Payment Gateways Need to Upgrade Their Technology to Safeguard End Customers
Payment
gateways around the world are generally hesitant to allow businesses offering
technical support services, to use their platform. This hesitancy transforms
into outright denial of services in most cases because technical support
services are considered high risk. There are reasons for this – many dubious
elements have entered the tech support industry and have been and still are
duping scores of customers every day in the name of technical support for their
computer systems. This explains why it’s so difficult to get a merchant account for tech support
businesses.
Not fair to
make the end user suffer
Marking the
entire tech support industry as high risk and refusing to allow all businesses
in the industry from using any payment gateway is not the right approach to
solve the problem posed by scammers in the industry. Not all tech support
businesses are scammers and the services of the genuine businesses are
desperately needed by the customers at all levels from individual PC owners to
enterprise networks. Many of these customers are themselves providing essential
services and if they don’t get to maintain their systems optimally, the end
customer suffers.
Payment
gateways need to use advanced technology
It is not
that scammers use extremely sophisticated technology to dupe customers. Rather,
they are mostly small time amateurs with just enough funds to operate a
fly-by-night operation. They depend on the ignorance of the customers as well
as their lack of alertness to dupe them. On their part, the customers can’t be
held responsible for not knowing something that is not part of their core
activity. However, they can be more alert but even in this case, they will need
the help and guidance of the payment gateway about the dos and don’ts of
dealing with a tech support service provider.
